When you are living your life by resign you are accepting the pattern and routine of your life- even if that doesn’t truly satisfy you. Life by Resign means to accept that something undesirable cannot be avoided” and you have a choice, yet you feel you dont know how to change the daily cycle to get make the changes you want. It starts off as undesirable, that “I want something to be different” and becomes, “well I’ve been doing this for so long, how do I even change it?”
Applying this mentality to our life creates a limiting belief that we are in fact not capable of controlling our own outcomes. We see so many other people around us that seem to settle for less, so we start to think, “am I asking for too much?” Or, “is what I want even practical?”
And day after day we too settle for less in our life- our relationships (or lack thereof), our career, our level of happiness or fulfillment, and as we become habituated, a barrier begins to form. That barrier is like a wall that says “you can’t have this,” and whatever it is you feel is missing in your life, you start to question if it will ever happen, or if you just have to swallow the reality that “things are just the way they are” and it diminishes the bright future of our dreams, goals, and our true aspirations.

It’s simple, but not always easy. However, if you are really honest with yourself, living day to day unfulfilled, feeling there is more, wishing you could have it but not sure how, that is far from easy.
So, if you want your life to be different, you must chose to design it. Choose to take the actions necessary so that you can live your life that way. We have the power to design our own lives. Here are The Three Keys when it comes to living life by design:
- Your beliefs
- Your habits
- Your strategies
These keys are the core of how we feel and what we do every day, generating quality of our lives. In order to Design Your Life, you must learn to master** these three factors.
First, you must recognize the beliefs that are holding you back from succeeding. If we want something to be different but we think that this thing is inevitable, it will not change. We need to eliminate these thoughts before we can start seeing a change.
Next, we have to reform our habits. Many of us fall into a mundane routine that can inhibit us from taking risks and embracing different things that we enjoy. A new habit to implement is to start imagining opportunities where alternative and more ideal routines thrive.
Lastly, we must work and focus on our strategy. Once you are clear with what you want, start taking action towards implementing it. Visualize your most perfect life and then start taking steps every day in order to achieve. Dedicating your time to perfect these three elements is how you can truly live your life by design.
3 Steps to Change Your Life
If you were asked to describe your most ideal day what would that look like? In today’s world, you are flooded with 5000 ads a day, some say even 10,000, in addition to our numerous responsibilities and extensive to-do lists that ultimately can consume your time and energy and distract you from your true passions and desires. We often become so absorbed by these daily tasks that we don’t actually know what we would do if given the opportunity to pursue an ideal lifestyle. Most of the times we know exactly what we don’t want, instead of defining exactly what we do want. If we are so clear on what we don’t want to do (chores, our jobs, exercising, having that conversation), what exactly is it that you do want? And in addition to that, ask yourself “why do you still tolerate doing so many things that you don’t enjoy?”
In order to break this cycle and change this pattern, we must be ready to stop living life where we feel like our decisions are involuntary. We have to let go and either be 100% okay with how things are, or be 100% not okay with it and take consistent actions towards changing it. Notice I said “consistent actions” One simple way way to get started is take 5 minutes, sit down somewhere where you can focus your mind, and practice these 3 steps:
- Get clear and specific. What exactly is it that you want? What are your passions? What activities do you do that makes time seem to stand still?
- Visualize. Try to imagine yourself going through your ideal day. What does that look like? Fill out your calendar or your to do list with the way that you would actually like it to be. Imagine yourself having that fulfillment and those experiences.
- Take action. Once you decide what you want, start looking for places and opportunities. You’ll start seeing opportunities all around and your goals will start to feel realistic. Then make it a goal to take a minimum of three actions a day for every work day in a week. Could you imagine what your life will look like after a month? If you set aside time to accomplish three actions a day that means you took 60 actions towards changing your life-in a month! Implementing this easy practice can dramatically speed up how fast you can change your life.
